I just got the April 08 copy of Juxtapoz, which among many great articles, has a great interview with Aaron Horkey. For those who are unfamilar, Horkey is known for his highly detailed illustrations and hand lettering. Unlike many popular artists today, his work takes time and patience, and the attention to detail is unmatched. While he doesn’t have a web portfolio, his work is easy enough to find. Check out this process thread on the poster he did for Pelican. Here is a small selection of skateboards he’s done. Here is an amazing poster he did for Mogwai. And another one for The Arcade Fire.     With the economy in shambles and the media preaching fear like it’s their job, shit’s gettin’ crazy.  One thing to be on the lookout for this holiday season… clients.  They come wearing many disguises, talking big game, and spewing all sorts of… well, often just spewing.  So, here’s a little tip to all the idependent professional creatives out there, when they(clients) feel compelled to tell you just how deep their pockets are - odds are they’ve got short arms.  That’s it.  Deep Pockets - Short Arms.  Heard that one from a buddy the other day, and it couldn’t be more dead-on.  Take it or leave it.  Just be on the lookout for anything remotely resembling a baby seal wearing high-end denim.  It’s probably not what it seems.
