We were recently pulled in to create a limited edition 5-color screen printed artist series poster for YMSB’s Cabin Fever Tour. We figured we’d bring ‘em some vector-heavy characters to shake things up in Bluegrass land. They went with the version on the right. It ended up a 4-color job. We’ll see how it goes over.

I stumbled upon this gem of a site recently, and although the name kinda makes me cringe, this guy has crazy skills. But what struck me most was not the subject matter or the flawless techniques, it was the depth. That this guy Draws and paints, sculpts AND has a firm grip on some software…plus makes some custom vinyl! Jason Freeny, AKA Moist Production…check it yourself.

Our pal Mauel Bello, dropped in on the ever illusive FAILE for fecalface.com. After being blindfolded by the two the Patricks Manny was escorted to their studios of undisclosed locations and had a chance to inspect their latest work for their upcoming show in London. Mind-blowing to say the least. All paint - no paste.

Get the whole scoop on Manny’s FAILE studio visit HERE!!!

For those of you not familiar with Kristian Kluver, and that’s a great many - he’s quite brilliant, exceptionally talented, and one of my favorite artist/designer/fabricators. Kluver gingerly navigates between the 2-d graphic and 3-d physical realm - a place most aren’t entirely comfortable. After a recent hard-drive failure, and some file reshuffling I stumbled upon some old Kluver imagery, nestled down deep inside the guts of HAL (our central server). The images included form the foundation for a body of work Kluver aptly titled FUCKFACE. I could go into detailed explanation of how the images were created, and where their roots lie, but that’s insider-only shit. These images did leave the digital world in a couple of applications. Unfortunately, the only complete set was discarded some time ago… by me (whole ‘nother tale). Regardless, this little post is my homeage to the gritty-mean imagery that is FUCKFACE. Enjoy, and then be honest with yourself and pick your favorite. Come on. Their’s one in there for everyone.

News from Tokyo of a couple no-logo McDonald’s opening up early this month. No clowns, no golden arches, no…anything, just a black storefront with red trim and a burger in the window. The menu’s exactly two items long: quarter-pounder and double quarter-pounder. Check the new website here.

Our pals at The 400, Denver’s premier purveyor of select and limited edition kicks have done it again. This time they’ve gone and consolidated both shops into one seriously mean sneaker/streetwear boutique and moved the mothership over to 1535 Platte. We stopped by for a visit last week and we’re pretty blown back. Staying true to their alliance with the boys at DoubleButter, they’ve teamed up once again to bang out their new space - and in a mere 3 weeks. The build out is brilliant, and even if you’re not into sneakers (which would suck for you) you oughtta stop by just to scope the finishes and trim details. DB and The 400 pulled out all the stops and really did the place up right. Oh, and they’ve got a new website poppin’ any day now. So stay up on that. Congrats gentleman. Your hardwork, committment, and purist dedication doesn’t go unnoticed. Respect.

A good friend of mine, Ken Macy has just launched his designer sock line Ashi Dashi. I was fortunate enough to pick up a pair of the FWIS design before they sold out, and word has it that Emil Kozak will be dropping 2 variations within a month or so along with a handful of other designs from various contributors. My toes have never been so happy! Ashi Dashi is currently being sold in Denver exclusively at The Fabric Lab and online.
Ashi Dashi is running online promotional sale for all of their vector and pixel loving brethren through Sunday… with the breakdown being: Friday 20% OFF, Saturday 15% OFF, and Sunday 10% OFF. (11/14/08-11/16/08)

Limited Addiction Gallery just released a new print from Jason Thielke. If you haven’t seen some of Thielke’s latest work you may have missed the awesomness that is painted backgrounds revealing to wood. We’ve seen a handful of pieces using this new technique in person and they’re stunning.
The print is an edition of 50 and measures 27″ x 22″. At $150 a pop, these babies ain’t going to last! Pick one up here!
