Tomorrow night, Forum Snowboards premiers F’_It at the Bluebird Theater. I’m a fan of the films they put out. Team is bangin’ (Peter Line = Icon), soundtrack is always good, and a creative touch to the movie. I thought  “Forever” was my fave last season…Oh yeah, + Satellite showing Colorado ‘Ride With Us’.

And then, F’_IT go snowboarding this winter. You feel better about your life and where your at in it. I said F’_IT recently and went riding in Argentina. Highly recommend it. F_IT, who cares how much it costs, you gotta go to snowboarding in South America. Don’t be lame and not ride the bus. August is the month though. It was a nice warm up for the 2010-11 season…it’s gonna be good!

I’m feeling indifferent to everything these days. Expending signifiant amounts of resource and time, over the last few years has left me closer to my goals, yet no matter how far, or how near, always feels like it’s not where I want to be.. Indifference over the last month has actually allowed for the most progress to take place on a lot of levels. I don’t care how things work out anymore. Concentrating only on the immediate needs or concerns means things will work out in the end. The best use of energy. Too often we’re pulled in so many directions that we don’t focus on any one thing well, leaving us feeling not present in the moment. Maybe that’s what Bruce was alluding to…

Still you have to take action or form at some point, your own Big Bang. It’s that “alea iacta est” moment… where a spark allows you to take advantage of the present. Only way to trigger a synapse towards those ever elusive goals… remember water is a source of energy that gets you rocking day to day…

It’s well known that football was started by the English, but it in Jamaica the game really took hold. The first official football club was formed in 1893. It took them till 1998 to become the first English-speaking from the Caribbean to qualify for the World Cup. Since then they’ve built a global following of fans. Unfortunately, they did not qualify for South Africa.

Now let’s take the magical-realism approach for a moment…where art, sport, and political intrigue converge.

What if Bob Marley had lived longer and been the coach leading the Jamaican squad onto the field? If musician Gilberto Gil can become Brazil’s Minister of Culture, then there’s no doubt that Bob Marley could have become the head ofJamaican football. If not for his home country, then maybe he could have led an African squad.

Marley’s affinity for the game was well known and documented. It was said he was a fan of the Argentina & Brazil rivalry, while leaning towards the later.  When on tour he demanded that there be ready access to a football pitch. Marley is quoted as saying…“Football is freedom, a whole universe. Me love it because you have to be skillful to play it.”

Today, it feels like the WC playing field has leveled tremendously. Any country is a threat to win the tournament. This might had been the first year we’d see an African squad in the final. But with the Ivory Coast’s Didier Drogba out, we’ll see…then again maybe not.

South Africa World Cup 2010 is about to start…Pumped, my pick for this year’s tournament is España. I’ve been a fan of the “Furia Roja – The Red Fury” since the Cup in 1982.  I spent that summer in Guatemala, and being Latin America, saw just about all the games on tv.

While I know most Americans could care less about the game, football really is the world’s sport. This event is huge, and the best players come together to turn kicking a ball around into an art form. It’ll be interesting to see who the dominant players are on this go around. Lots of well know players won’t be there this year…

Johan Cruyff was one of those guys who left his mark on World Cup history. I remember reading about his exploits during the 74 and 78 campaigns. He was a part of the dominant Dutch clubs those years, but they lost in both finals to W. Germany and Argentina respectively. Actually had a chance to see him play late in his career while with the Washington Diplomats of the N.A.S.L., back when the New York Cosmos were dominating league play. The man had some skillz…

Everybody has knows someone who’s really into Star Wars. I’m a fan, who isn’t for the most part. But have a friend that lives in Geeksville. Takes it to a different level than most folks.

After much encouragement, I finally got Gorilla Knuckles to take and post pictures of his Star Wars collection. I’ve know this guy for a long time, and when you walk into his home office its hard not to be like, “damn, this is impressive”….
