“With natural reefs under threat throughout the globe’s oceans, the sculptures act as the perfect stable surfaces needed for coral to grow. Fish, turtles, sea urchins, sponges and sharks have also started to recolonise the area.” Via - Huck Magazine
Funny how many ‘hipsters‘ know little about maintaining their cool track bike, cause you can only get so far before you have to eventually change a tire. You eventually have to care…Maybe the unfriendly attitude of a bike mechanic does serve a purpose.
Don’t just chase the DIY aesthetic, embrace it as a chance to learn something.
If you’ve been following Dave Crosland’s blog then you already know he’s been putting together some amazing new installation work at D-Structure. This is one part of a series of massive paintings, featuring boxers as only Dave would imagine them. I can’t wait to see these things come together on the finished wood panels. Here’s a time-lapsed video of one of the big boys.

Beyond the Page opened about a week ago at Gallery 1988, San Francisco. It featured a solid mix of artists and illustrators, all reimagining their favorite children’s books. Our own Shannon Bonatakis was a participant, taking on childhood staples Goodnight Moon, and Where the Wild Things Are. Her homage to Maurice Sendak is still available amazingly. I’m hoping it will adorn my wall one day, but I wouldn’t hold it against you if you can’t live without it either.
Here are some highlights from the show. Enjoy!
