OBAMA or…

If you know anyone in Indiana or North Carolina call them and recommend they get their ass out to vote and rally anyone and everyone they can. As difficult as it’s been, winning the democratic nomination will be viewed as childs play compared to what’s to come from the right.

And in regards to Obama being all talk, and no action… have a look at his Senate voting record. It’s pretty damn impressive for a “junior” Senator.

SOMETHING TO CONSIDER: OIL

Oil, arguably the worlds most requisite commodity, hit a new high last week coming in just above $116 a barrel. Yet, there wasn’t a shortage, there were no embargoes, and gasoline was readily available at the pump, albeit highly priced… all a function of demand. The world population is set to grow by 50%, reaching 9 billion by mid-century, the number of vehicles on the world’s roads is set to double in roughly 30 years bringing the tally to 2 billion. Developing nations like China and India are following the US model of growth and consuming more oil than ever, and you can’t blame them. Look at where our oil-based diet led the United States … oh, wait… into a war over oil? The world’s oil supplies are stretched. Over the past century we have burned through a trillion barrels of oil. Approximately 1.2 trillion barrels of known “conventional” reserves are claimed to exist, waiting to be tapped (according to the oil barons of the world). Given the current rate of global demand, yet not accounting for significant growth in both China and India’s demand (which is certain to occur), a trillion of those “known” barrels will be exploited in less than 30 years. Sure, there’s more oil out there, in remote countries(who will certainly restrict access), and quite likely at the bottom of the Arctic Ocean, but at what cost will it come? Odds are likely that it will come at a great cost to you, me, and the rest of the citizens of our planet. Right now, could be as good a time as ever to get over your love affair with your car. Consider alternate forms of transportation, ride a bike, take the bus, perhaps even think about moving your family closer to your place of work, or at least ponder the notion of carpooling. We as Americans are clearly living a national lifestyle outside of our means. Think about it. Do you really believe that our government is so freedom-focused and concerned with human rights that nearly 50% of your tax dollars would rightfully be spent “spreading democracy” throughout the Middle East (view the list of the Executive orders signed by Bush from 2001 - 2008). Come on. We’re in the midst of a serious crisis, at home and away, and it’s only going to get worse. The kind of CHANGE that’s needed happens at home, and in small groups… through education, filtering out bogus corporate propaganda, and by seeking out legitimate media outlets in search of the truth. What kind of world do you want to bring your children into? Corruption coupled with over-consumption is nothing new in America, but it’s certainly at an all time high and far from providing a fertile platform for future generations. And, oil consumption is certainly at the heart of the problem.

INK MONSTR JETTA

Ink Monstr finished wrapping the company car a few weeks ago - Space Craft provided the graphics, Ink Monstr did the wrap. We just got some pics from their site (recently updated). I’ve been lucky enough to catch a glimpse of this warlock in person and can say it looks damn good! And now that she can jog comfortably, she’s in the best shape of her life…

STOLEN BIKE!!!

One of the nicest fellas I’ve ever met and veteran bike messenger for Boulder/Denver Couriers, Elliot Leslie, recently had his really sweet bike stolen. It was ganked on Sunday night in Downtown Boulder in front of the Mountain Sun. There is a REWARD w/ NO QUESTIONS ASKED for its return. Here are the specs:

- Brand new Primus Mootry custom track frame, 52cm, distinctly steep 81 degree seat tube angle. Yellow powdercoat, no decals. Extra wide undrilled seatstay brace above rear wheel (cross brace is made from the fat end of a chainstay.) Very short top tube, fully custom geometry that is somewhat atypical in appearance!
- Wound Up carbon road fork, 1″ threaded (no brake mounted, but drilled)
- Silver Campy Record 1″ threaded headset
- Silver Cinelli quill stem & Cinelli criterium drop bars (very narrow) w/ black bar tape on bottom of drops only
- Black Thompson seatpost (0 setback, 27.2 x 250mm)
- Black Selle Italia saddle
- Front Wheel: Mavic CXP33 w/ silver Miche Pista high flange track hub, 36 hole 2cross
- Rear Wheel: Mavic CXP30 w/ silver Phil Wood high flange track hub, 32 hole 3cross
- Red striped Michelin Orium tires
- Black FSA 165mm cranks w/ black RaceFace 50-T chainring (110mm BCD)
- Silver toe clips & black leather toe straps on Shimano pedals
- 17-T Euro Asia Imports track cog w/ Phil Wood lockring
- Serial # PM 02-08-02, stamped on the underside of the bottom bracket

If you see it (or any parts from it) around, please call Elliott Leslie at 303-545-0060, the Police (Case #P08-4463), or call Boulder Denver Couriers at 303-444-9833. Please reclaim it however you deem fit (for example: throwing your lock on it). Please also keep an eye out online on sites like Craigslist, Ebay, etc. Thank you for reading.

BABY EATERS SEEN IN MINNEAPOLIS

Witnesses say that this is the first time they have seen this seemingly sinister imagery on the calm streets of Minneapolis. Others say they have seen it before… One elderly women reportedly saw similar characters on the bus stop sign, a police car and on hipsters handbags. If you ask me, its no coincidence at all. I know the dastardly deeds of these artsy mercenaries and its no joke. First you see these “Baby Eaters” on the streets of your favorite neighborhoods, then on the clothing and accessories of your chums. Then the next thing you know it, its on your cereal boxes and in your underwear. If you ask me, its the beginning of an invasion. The mastermind behind the creation of these little creatures is of course Small But Dangerous, one of the 3 elite that run this very blog. But, don’t take it from me. Look around at the place you live, the place you call home and tell me what you see… Not even Superman himself could save us from these creative villains.

JOSH HOLLAND: ART BARTER SYSTEM!

So, my good friend and partner in bike related crime, Sean from Vecchio’s had a sick nasty, old skool Bianchi time trial funny bike frame laying around the shop last week. I sort of have a thing for Bianchis and was ready to do whatever it took to ride that thing. After some serious negotiation it came down to a framed print of Josh Holland’s piece “Never Lose Your Sense of Wonder” for the fully built bike. I would say it was a win win for everybody involved and damn does that print look good framed… now you just have to finish up my bike Sean!

NINJA NATE - LASIK?

Turns out Ninja Nate is gonna be goin’ under the knife. He needs immediate Lasik!!! We’ve never heard of anyone having to undergo an immediate Lasik procedure. Have you? Ninja Nate says, “My opthamologist can’t believe it either, he’s not sure why, but I have to have Lasik, like yesterday. Weird, right?” Crazy. The Ninja himself sent over one last close-up of his beautiful eyeballs, “just in case something goes wrong,” he said. Remember these gorgeous eyeballs… cuz you never may see them again.

VALENTINE’S DAY RECAP

So… yesterday was Valentines Day. Some of us around JE headquarters had Valentines… some didn’t. The one thing though that we all have in common (every day) is iPhones. And, we take lots of photos (most of which are super whack!). Here’s what we feel are our 2 best and most intriguing Valentines Day photos. As you can tell, some of us had “better” evenings than others…
