We posted a few of Jethro Hayes’ shoes a while back and awarded him the “Official JoyEngine Yur Rad Award.” Well, Jethro found the post and sent along some more customs he did - they’re unbelievable! We’ll be sending out his “Fuck Microsoft” shirt later today. Thanks Jethro!

The Manifest Hope Gallery opened to the press yesterday. The amount of amazing art is staggering and we HIGHLY recommend you get your butt down there. The show opened to the public today and will be running until Wed. The gallery unfortunately shuts down at 5pm so you’ll have to make it a day trip.
We’ve compiled a short preview of the show to get your ass motivated. Check it out!

On Friday night Gallery 1988 opened the second annual “Crazy 4 Cult” show, hosted by infamous film director Kevin Smith. The show’s theme centers around a list of films affectionately known as cult classics, and features artists as varied as the films they represented. Some notable participants include Shepard Fairey, Jim Mahfood, Chet Zar, Plasticgod, Reuben Rude, Camilla D’Errico and Shannon Bonatakis. I did not have the pleasure of attending, but the show can be seen online in its entirety HERE.
Smith made sure to snatch up every single piece that featured his film alter ego Silent Bob, hopefully not to look at himself, but to support those artists that have supported his film career all these years… Yup, that’s what I’m going with. Love me some smodcast. Rumor has it that Weird Al will be hosting next year, look for UHF to dominate.
The following are some snippets of my favorite pieces from this show. Enjoy!

Getting our piece down to Andenken for the Manifest Hope Gallery exhibit, was quite possibly more difficult than designing and constructing it. Somehow, through a great deal of planning and much energy expended it arrived safely. The concept behind the piece was to present the first ten amendments, more commonly referred to as the Bill of Rights, in a new and contemporary manner. While it is a bit of a hulking monster, we really felt that provoking interactivity was the key to awakening a general lack of awareness. An awareness inherent to being American - knowing your rights. George Bush has systematically stripped our rights away. We’ve chosen to endorse Barack Obama as the man to keep them in check, restore what’s been lost and lead our nation into a new and prosperous future. We hope you like our concept. And, if you know, and enjoy your rights - Vote for Obama this coming November. Either way - stop by Manifest Hope and check out the unprecedented body of work created in honor of Mr. Obama.

The dynamic duo that is Josh Holland and Shannon Bonatakis activated their collective creative energy to manifest their contribution to Denver’s Manifest Hope Gallery exhibition. These two can do no wrong when it comes to paint and brushes and the below piece, provoking a sense of both awe and discovery is a testament to their powers. Having been in and out of the gallery a great deal over the past week, and witnessing all sorts of all-star art activity, it’s been pretty amazing to see not only how well represented, but how high the level of execution is amongst our local Colorado contingent is. The force is strong with us.
