LEFAVOR IMMORTALIZES URBANO & HERMAN

Amidst a recent flurry of new work ranging from the creation of a couple of new identity systems, some gorgeous wedding invites, a stash of custom built and hand-painted signs, and a brilliant pop-iconified painting of Marilyn Monroe(wish we had a photo) for the Life as Legend traveling exhibition at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center - Scot Lefavor managed to fully handle the below commission. Courtland Urbano(left) and Sean Herman(right) are two all around super rad and way crafty dudes. Both are signigicant players in the perpetually emerging Colorado art & design scene. Courtland commissioned Scot to create a painting of him and his best bro Sean. While the attached photo does some justice to the piece, it’s lacking the required detail necessary for full appreciation. Lefavor is up’n the ante with some new techniques and odds are good they’ll be fully utilized for his upcoming show at Andenken with Amanda Marie. We can’t wait to see…

LESLIE MINNIS TONIGHT AT ANDENKEN GALLERY!

Tonight is the opening of Leslie Minnis’ first solo show ever at Andenken. I’ve just recieved word from Mr. Hyland Mather (owner, director, makin mover of Andenken) that there are 5 large oil paintings that are just “heart stopping strong.” Along with the ‘artifacts’ that make up the settings for these fantastic (as in fantasy) still life pieces, there is also a print on canvas (edition of 10) of the image below. Everyone around here is really pumped to see this amazing body of work. Also, Hyland tells us that Todd Oliver is likely going to have some fire sculpture going on as well. Not exactly too sure wht that entails, but it definitely sounds interesting. Music, booze, and ping pong will also be in the cards for this fine evening of entertainment See you there tonight!

RUN TO THE HILLS - RECAP

We popped in to Andenken Gallery Friday night on our way to Ogi’s and Josh’s shows to see how their inaugral group show after the move came together. We’ve gotta hand it to Hyland for really dialin’ the Block Building in. He’s turned it into quite a space (the ping pong table is a welcomed bonus). The “Run to the Hills” show was awesome, particularly if you’re a street art coniesseur. The show featured work by Bast, Aiko (previously of the Faile collective), Skewville, and Elbowtoe. Have a look. The work speaks for itself. If you haven’t made it over to the Block Building yet make a point of stopping by, it’s well worth the trip to just admire the space, let alone the art.
