CONFRONT/(A)VOID by Joseph Shaeffer

Joseph Shaeffer will be showing new work entitled CONFRONT/(A)VOID at the Artyard Sculpture Gallery on May 23rd.  The show will run through June 6th.  It’s been most excellent to personally witness the evolution of Joeseph’s work.  For CONFRONT/(A)VOID Joseph took on new challenges, worked with new mediums, and pushed the boundaries of his comfort zone.  We can’t wait to see what’s still come.

THIELKE at LAG: RECAP

Jason Thielke has cemented and repeatedly reaffirmed his place amongst todays leading progressive contemporary artists. He did it again on Saturday, January 12th at Limited Addiction Gallery and we were all there to see it. The whole crew was out, extra-inspired, and aligned in full support of Jason. Frankly, the whole evening was pretty special. A big thanks and fat props go out to Dave Smith and the whole LAG team for supporting Jason and hosting a spectacular exhibition of his work. Have a look at how it all went down…

JASON THIELKE: PSiLOVEU at LAG

PSiLOVEU, Jason Thielke’s latest body of work opens tomorrow night at Denver’s own Limited Addiction Gallery. We just spoke with Dave Smith, good bro and the owner/curator at LAG and according to Dave, Jason’s show is off to a spectacular start!!! Thielke and LAG teamed up to produce a limited edition, signed and numbered run of 25 giclee prints on hahnemuhle velvet paper. The prints are already sold out… and they just dropped yesterday! Dave has held on to 5 prints for the opening and they’ll be available first come, first serve at 7pm on Saturday night.

The response to Thielke’s latest round of figurative work has been overwhelming, to say the least. We just took a lookat LAG’s site and lots of Jason’s work has already sold. It’s going fast. We can’t convey how excited we are for both Jason and LAG, two of the more significant and iconic entities gracing our local art landscape. Their partnership represents some of the best of the best happening in contemporary art. Period. We’ve speculated since Dave offered Jason this show as to just how significant it could be, and we’re pleased to announce it’s set to exceed all expectation. Congrats guys. Nice work.

JASON THIELKE at LIMITED ADDICTION: Jan 12th

Jason Thielke will be taking center stage at Limited Addiction Gallery this Saturday, January 12th with his latest works entitled, “PSiLOVEU.” Based on LAG’s reputation within the art world it’s safe to say that this is Jason’s biggest and perhaps most significant solo show to date. He’s been preparing meticulously in typical Thielke fasion and producing some truly spectacular work. Personally, I feel that LAG teaming up with Thielke is the start to a brilliant future for not just Jason and LAG, but for the entire Front Range art community. It’s been a bit since I was this excited about viewing one of my friends bodies of work. You’ll have to wait until Saturday to see the whole show, but in the mean time, here’s a sample of what’s in store.

RUN TO THE HILLS - RECAP

We popped in to Andenken Gallery Friday night on our way to Ogi’s and Josh’s shows to see how their inaugral group show after the move came together. We’ve gotta hand it to Hyland for really dialin’ the Block Building in. He’s turned it into quite a space (the ping pong table is a welcomed bonus). The “Run to the Hills” show was awesome, particularly if you’re a street art coniesseur. The show featured work by Bast, Aiko (previously of the Faile collective), Skewville, and Elbowtoe. Have a look. The work speaks for itself. If you haven’t made it over to the Block Building yet make a point of stopping by, it’s well worth the trip to just admire the space, let alone the art.

OGI - STRIPES GALLERY TONIGHT!

Ogi was born in Tokyo and relocated to the bay area to study illustration. He’s now back in Japan and showing internationally. Some of his more recent exhibitions have been at such esteemed venues as Giant Robot, Receiver Gallery, White Walls, and Kid Robot. Ogi will be showing tonight at Denver’s Stripes Gallery at 3309 Blake Street. We highly recommend checking out his work.

And, since we know you’ll already be out on the town and heading over to the Plastic Chapel to view our good friend Josh Wills show entitled, “Consume + Create”, it shouldn’t be too tough to bring your arty selves over to stripes gallery afterwards. Have fun.

Childrens’ Hour Comes to a Close…

Got distracted for a sec and jumped over to limitedaddictiongallery.com to see if Dave had posted pics of the 4 live collab panels Blain Fontana, Tim McCormick, James Naccarato and Jophen Stein had started at their opening on last Friday. Sure enough, they were there and well worth the jump. Have a look and enjoy.

“CHILDREN’S HOUR” at Limited Addiction

Fontana | McCormick | Naccarato & Stein

11.30.07 through 12.23.07 - Opening reception Friday, November 30th, 7-10pm
NOTE: The artists will be painting live in the gallery both tonight and Saturday evening!

“After several years of working and showing together, these four west coast artists come together for “Children’s Hour” (A collaborative exploration of children’s fables, fairy tales, and nursery rhymes). Work produced at live painting events, through the course of friendship, and a workshop like comradery for each others painting techniques, inspired the pursuit of a more focused collaborative effort. Without the time constraints [a usual tendency of live painting events], it was agreed that the resulting work had become more than the sum of it’s parts, in addition to telling it’s own type of unique folk tale.

“With this presentation we invite you into our working world. The four of us have come together and bonded over our love for spending every possible moment making art. With a completed series of works, combined with live painting the night of the opening and the following day, we hope to give you a glimpse into our reality.

During the last few decades cascading waves of entertainment minutia continue to gain momentum, leaving few pastime gratifications that have a lasting effect on society. Children’s narrative, whether fable or lullabye, story or song, has increasingly become a victim. An increasing homogenization of adult and child demeanor has rendered classic tales almost obsolete. With “Children’s Hour,” we’ve come together in collaboration to show appreciation for what we believe should remain timeless and relative.”

Thanks and hope to see you there.” - Blaine, Tim, James & Jophen.
