ARTCRANK Denver 2009 – RECAP

By: Lucian Foehr

This was Denver’s first year hosting ARTCRANK and we came out strong! HUGE turnout, bikes everywhere, fashion show, crazy-ass marching band and over 40 posters from some of Colorado’s freshest artists. We made the trek from Boulder via bus / bike (bus to Wadsworth, bike from there), riding with Collin (Quickleft), Dan (Retail Sprout/Hi! Local), and Big Grant (Sid Factor Seven).

You can check out all of our photos over on our Flickr, but here are a select few. Big ups to the Wills Fam for hosting the whole shebang, to Charles (who started ARTCRANK back in MN 4 years ago) and Rob & Celeste who made the long trip back for the show. We miss you guys already.

Until next year.

Indy Ink a little torn up... Of the roughly 50 artists on board for ARTCRANK Denver 2009 Indy Ink handled the printing of 24 poster designs comprised of over 50 individual color screens in just 10 days and all after hours - all as near to perfection as one can get with hand pulled screen printing. Fuck Yeah.

ARTCRANK Denver, CO – Sat April 11th!!!

ARTCRANK Colorado Sat. April 11th

By: Todd Berger

ARTCRANK Minneapolis 2009 looked super rad.  The Tran/Josh x Celeste/Lifter twatter left us a bit jealous.  But, we’ve got a feelin’ the Colorado posse’s gonna hold shit down too.  On that note – we just wrapped our posters with our man Ray at Good Thoughts on the press – and damn… tasty work, Ray.  Here’s a preview of PROPER TRANSPORTATION by cypher13 starring Mike Moore, Miria Moore, Maya Moore, and Maya Moore’s dolly.  Saturday the 11th is gonna be poppin’!!! We’re just happy to have been invited to play.  Thanks ARTCRANK.

Minneapolis ARTCRANK Updates

Most of the artwork for ARTCRANK MPLS has been revealed and is currently being added to the site. With only one week left there are still a few pieces to be collected but the buzz is building and shit is rolling! Get over to the site and check it out for yourself.

Minneapolis ARTCRANK is April 4th at One On One Bikes downtown MPLS.
Denver ARTCRANK is April 11th at The Fabric Lab on the Super Block. Located on St Paul & Colfax.

CYPHER13 FOR ARTCRANK

By: Lucian Foehr

We’re wrapping up the final design for our ARTCRANK posters – hopefully they’ll be off to the printers soon.  We did a little post last week regarding local architect / close friend, Mike Moore and his ‘Proper Transportation.’  Just to reiterate, Mike rides his two little girls (Miria and Maya) to school (5mi each way) everyday on the rig you see below. Yea. Think about that next time you hop in your car.

For our poster we aimed to create a modern classic (Mike Moore embodies the “modern classic”), reminiscent of the historical bicycle advertisements of past that often carried a current cultural message.  We feel like we accomplished our goals. All six colorways will be screen-printed using water based inks on recycled paper and will be displayed on April 11th at ARTCRANK – of course.

Things are starting to shape up on all sides for ARTCRANK 09. Here is a quick sneak peak at some of the goodies that are starting to make their way across my field of vision… all in various stages of production. Top to bottom: Lifter Baron x Scot (MN), Sean Herman (DEN), Jerimy Brown (DEN)!

Time to start thinking about putting some air in your tires and lubing up the ol’ chain! Shred city is about to ride dirty!!!
