cypher13’s latest art/toy endeavor, SOFT&FURRY™ is moving along at a blistering rate. The S&F™ logo design contest is in it’s final week. Deadvolt of Copenhagen, Denmark dominated week #7 with a super awesome logo treatment. Thanks Adam!!!
And so, It’s time to drop some toys – all handmade, all hand-cast, and totally “man”ufactured in-house.

This is their tale…
The soft and furry are very, very old.
They have been since here was here.
When here was new, there were the three.
LOOFT helped all to breath, DOO helped all to drink and GROOND made all things grow.
The three were one.
Many creatures, both large and small, of water, of air, and of land arose.
They breathed the air, they drank the water, they fed on all that grows.
They took only what they needed.
But one such creature took too much.
This creature misunderstood the natural code.
Green things grayed, blue things blackened, and clear things turned to cloud.
Those who were soft and furry, hardened with gloom.
The three may be soft and furry once more.
But, for now their hardness has saved them.
LOOFT helps all to breath, DOO helps all to drink and GROOND makes all things grow.
The three are one.
None can live without them.

Adam Hansel aka DEADVOLT, ASH, ADAMSKI was born in Dubuque, Iowa but now lives in Copenhagen, Denmark. He’s a wicked good designer and all around rad guy, I met him a couple months ago through my homey Pe. He and Pe went to high school together back in Iowa. Here’s some of Adam’s work, and oh, he happily responds to “Hey Asshole!” – just don’t ask him for a cigarette.

Adam Hansel, the man behind DEADVOLT just let us in on a super fresh exhibition of skateboard graphics that he’s a part of. The exhibition, aptly titled Till Death Do Us Part showcases the wonderful world of skateboard graphics. The exhibition includes work by legendary skateboard artists Jim Philips, Randy Laybourne and Hessenmob amongst a variety of others of the same persausion. The art in this show is produced exclusively for it, and will simultaneously be auctioned on ebay where profits will benefit the local skateboard community in Aalborg. Friday, August 21st 2009 Illiterate brings its mission of promoting creative collaboration to Denver’s Space gallery with “CMYK+RGB”, an interactive arts event exploring the interactions between print and digital media. Count on print and digital installations, live screen printing, a fashion show and a print exhibition.
Ravi Zupa will be showing new works tonight at INDYINK. It’s gonna be a cash & carry program. There’ll be some inexpensive works, kick down, and roll home with new art!!!
Party at Installation this Friday the 14th featuring Brooklyns, Jasmine Solano. Gonna be hot.
Public Works Speaker Series starts tonight with Jay Ryan of The Bird Machine and Chris Kaskie of Pitchfork at Andrew Rafacz Gallery. If your in the Chicago area, def make the time to check this series out. See lineup here.
Another Denver local by way of New Britain, Connecticut, Sandi Calistro will be showing a range of new works at The Shoppe this Saturday August 8th right next door to Leigh’s show on the Super Block. The opening reception is from 7PM – 11PM at 3103 East Colfax Avenue. The Shoppe will be open until 2AM on Saturday following the show… slangin’ fresh cupcakes and big ass bowls of cereal.
Denver local Leigh Viner will be showing new works this Saturday August 8th at The Fabric Lab. The opening reception will be from 7PM – 11PM and is going down at 3105 East Colfax Avenue in Denver.
Mod Livin’ presents the Denver By Design Showcase. Vote for the best modern design object, art or furniture created by a Colorado designer.
Public Works is a group show featuring new works from Chicago artists Cody Hudson, Justin Fines, Andy Mueller, and Chris Eichenseer. WHOA!
