SHITTY at THE SHOPPE!

As usual, Markham “Shitty Kitten” Maes crushed his latest show, this time at Josh & Tran’s, Shoppe (a first of its kind cereal & cupcake bar chock full of the most coveted art & design books available). Markham pushed the Sculpey around a bit further than usual, painted a number of albums, album covers, panels, skate decks, and kept it rollin’ all night long live painting both a large panel and a handful of models for The Fabric Lab’s fashion show at the Super Fresh Block Party later that evening (pics and details soon). Saturday night was a must see Denver evening. Thanks go out to all those who made it happen. It sorta… ruled. Nice work team!!!

It’s just a start, but get ready… Markham “Shitty Kitten” Maes is about to take his portfolio online. When he does, well, you’ll see. For all you artist/designer types that think you’re the dope shit… prepare for a MuthaFuckin’ wake up call. For those of you not in the know, Mr. Maes is one of the two cofounding fathers of EHF Collective, alongside Scot Lefavor. The rest of the EHF krew is comprised of Ronnie “Dong” Innis (who seems to be seriously M.I.A.), Turntablist SYMMETRY, and the newest edition, Madd Mike Graves (who just happened to take down his JoyEngine show yesterday in preparation for RAFA JENN’s opening. Shitty’s got big things planned so keep your eyes on homey, yo!

SCOT LEFAVOR @ DOUBLE DAUGHTERS

Scot Lefavor, our friend, coworker, and fellow intergalactic traveler recently bombed out Double Daughters Salotto down in Denver with some super fresh new artwork. Scot called this body of work “A night out at the Bar”. Scot hung the show, and then proceeded to have his own “Night out at the Bar”. Nice one Scotty. Scot followed up his show (1 week later) with a discussion and slide show (also, at Double Daughters) on a variety of art related topics like, being an artist, being a designer, collaborating with other artists and designers, being in the EHF crew, pushing and growing our culture here at JoyEngine, and hopefully elaborated a bit on what it’s like to just “be” Scot Lefavor. We’re proud of you Scot.

PROPS: A BIG SHOUT OUT! goes to our boy, John Fellows for bustin’ it all the way down from Summit Co. to hear Scotty shoot the breeze and to scope his new work. You rule John! You made Scot’s night, but you know that. Right fuckin’ on.
