THANKS TO IAN COYLE & THE MCA

By: Todd Berger

A great big thanks goes out to Ian Coyle and the MCA Denver for hosting the first of what we hope is many, Applied Ideas, talks on design.  It’s really fantastic to see the Front Range design community coming together for the greater good.  It was a real pleasure to have the opportunity to engage in a design-driven discussion with Chris Beatty of Cultivator, Norm Shearer of Cactus, and Ian Coyle of Superheroes - some of the top creative minds in Colorado.  Thanks again.

APPLIED IDEAS - TALKS ON DESIGN - MCA DENVER

By: Todd Berger

Ian Coyle, is one of our contemporary design heroes.  Perhaps, a bit of a superhero…  We’ve followed his work for many years, and his name regularly comes up in our studio.   His ability to seamlessly transition from digital (web/identity/print design) to analog (letterpress, among other disciplines) is admirable, to say the least.  Ian recently contacted me on behalf of cypher13, and asked if I would participate in a discussion at the MCA Denver with Chris Beatty (Cultivator - Creativer Director/Partner), Norm Shearer (Cactus - Creative Director/Partner), and himself (Superheros - Founder).  I was flattered, honored, a bit intimidated, and very excited to have the opportunity to discuss design with some of Denver’s industry heavies.

The discussion, or perhaps best described by Ian as “a creative conversation” is this Friday, September 19th from 7:30 - 9:00pm at the MCA Denver.

The Lowdown: Applied Ideas are open discussions on design and its relevance, theory, and practice. At a time when disciplines are converging, how does the role and application of design change?

Each program brings leading creative professionals together to discuss relevant topics on the design horizon. Curated by Ian Coyle, this program aims to connect and engage Colorado’s creative community.

IAN COYLE makes nasty-fresh WEBSITES

By: Todd Berger

Ian Coyle, formerly of iancoyle.com and hello-sexy.com, creator of cake-or-death.org, and superhero.es, well known for one of his master works, shopcomposition.com (which has evolved quite a bit) is quite possibly my favorite website designer.  And he’s local, a denverite.  I’ve sorta followed his trajectory as a total web ruler and conqueror as long as I’ve been in the biz myself.   I just stumbled upon another site of his, perhaps new, perhaps old - not sure.  But it’s rad.  Maybe you’ve seen it.  Maybe it’s been on a grip of blogs already.  I don’t really care.  HOLGANYC.com is dope and you should check it out.
