JIVE & GRAVES: RECAP

By: JoyEngine

Who won? We called it a draw. Individually both cats (hailing from the DF Crew) put together super great work and every piece they collaborated on was f*ing stellar. We’re less familiar with Jive’s fine artwork (more familiar with his work in the street), but his transition to the gallery setting was flawless. As for Mr. Mike Graves, we witnessed some of his smallest, and cleanest paintings yet – and the reveal to wood was sick! The show will be running for a month, so if you didn’t make it for the opening you should swing by. Big ups to Indy Ink for holding it down, they have great shop that definitely warrants a visit.

SHOE SHINE 2007 – FULL COVERAGE!

By: Lucian Foehr

SHOE SHINE 2007 was awesome to put it simply. Huge props go out to Musa (Pulse Arts) and Lily (FIRELILY) for throwing a righteous sneaker driven event/party. With NIKE, the400, Vitamin Water, nin/ether, Ins+allation/Sa+ellite, INDYINK, Buffalo Exchange, Platic Chapel, triggerhappy, EMAGE, yours truly, KevinKAIN Ent., BEG, LOCAL STUDS, and Education Outweighs Them All (EOTA) all kicking down to support the event it was shapin’ up to be a DOPE gathering and that’s precisely what it was. There was tons of art on display, all sorts of both custom and classic kicks, live sneaker customization, live screen printing, live graffiti via Denver’s very own Magnet Mafia, a playground style shoot out provided by our homies over at ins+allation, and steady beats all evening. Fortunately, we shot tons of great pics so we’ll let the photos do the rest of the talkin’…

INDYINK PLASTISOL FREE4ALL!

By: Lucian Foehr

Our homies over at INDYINK have a super rad t-shirt design contest/party goin’ on April 13th. INDYINK dropped word of a t-shirt contest a bit ago and rumor has it they’ve received over 70 submissions. Get down to the Flying Dog Brewery Friday night, April 13th (if you’re not gonna be here for Josh Holland’s show) at 2401 Blake Street in Denver, CO and vote on your favorite local artist designed t-shirt. The top 10 designers get some dope prizes and will have their designs adorning INDYINK’s spring/summer t-shirts. F-R-E-S-H!

Look forward to live performances by MC Dent, The Flobots, Umconcious, and Hezzary, live screenprinting INDYINK style, and a whole helluva lot more…

A bunch of us at the shop got in the spirit and rallied up some designs for the contest. Check ‘em out.
