I’m sure some of you have seen Liz Hickok’s work before. She is a San Francisco-based artist working in photography, video, sculpture, installation, and currently, Jell-O. Her expansive cityscapes made of Jell-O quickly decay, leaving photographs and video as the only remains. Current TV recently aired a short video segment on Liz Hickok and her unique works of art.

Last Friday Installation Shoe Gallery threw an artsy shindig to celebrate their latest installation. Jon Strieby covered the entire store/gallery with awesome figurative pieces on cut wood panels. We were in and out during the install process and can confidently say that shit came together! Jon’s work is simple yet intriguing and with such a large body there’s plenty to look at. His “hand letters” are excellently executed. We got to see all sorts of local celebrities including our favs of the shoe crew; Big Ant Hull and Seth Bruce, Mr. Vaughn Dice from Milk Baby, Raul always rockin’ the freshest kicks and a whole bunch of others (we even got a real life glimpse of the Satellite + Dekline collab). All in all, the latest installation is a huge hit!

We’d like to take a moment and introduce “Bruce“, Seth Bruce to be precise. Bruce rolls and controls over at Installation Shoe Gallery. He knows his kicks and… the robot. Seth is gonna be reppin’ Installation on the JE site and bringin’ you his “Top 11″ in the form of super fresh sneaks and other totally hype new gear. Odds are good he’ll be providing other hilariously delicious treats to the site as well… Bruce… everybody… everybody… Bruce.

Our pals over at Installation have been killin’ it lately. They’ve been bringing in piles of super hype kicks and droppin’ all sorts of fresh new gear. We stopped by to kick it with Bruce yesterday, spied all the new ALIFEs and checked their latest lids. Gotta be honest, they’re doin’ it right. Have a look at Installation’s latest round of fitted New Eras…

Big Seth Bruce over at Installation Shoe Gallery called over to let us know their ALIFE shipment had arrived. We went to check it out, camera in hand. ALIFE is definitely bringing the heat this year, it’s great to see them hit their stride and really flourish. If you’re downtown and like your sneakers, drop by Installation and check ‘em out!

Brian “Big” Wood of Tee & Cakes and side b apparel proposed the idea of a “BabyEater” installation in his and Kim’s bakery/boutique to SBD a few months ago. Lucian brainstormed for a good bit and came up with some ideas for the creation of a pattern to adorn one of the walls. He wanted it BabyEater-centric, but also aimed to keep it relevant to Brian and Kim’s concept. BabyEaters, he decided would be accompanied by tea and/or coffee and cakes, cupcakes to be specific. The pattern was certainly tricky given the space in which it was to live, but SBD nailed it and got after the installation. He wrapped it up late last night. We think its awesome. Check it out.

We have a little preview of teebee’s upcoming “Space Travelers & other affiliated intergalactic shit” at Installation Shoe Gallery. Pictured is close to 50 pieces, expect 100 for the show - including skate decks and furniture. Our boy has been slaving away and has turned out a shit load of dope ass art. We’ll keep you posted with some more previews as the show comes along. You can check out teebeeland.com for photos of the completed pieces. Watch out for collabs with the likes of small-but-dangerous, Brian Krezel, Mat Doubek, Markham “Shitty Kitten” Maes, Scot Levafor, and many more.

Our very own TEEBEE is concocting a masterful compostion of work for his first solo show this August @ Installation shoe gallery here in Boulder. I know personally, that he’s been putting some super rad stuff together for the show and is looking forward to the presentation. It’s actually kind of fun to watch the whole thing come together and can’t wait to see it all in action. Until then, take a quick peek at some samples of things to come.
The show is 7pm-11pm, August 30th

R and I just got back from NYC. We headed out there to check out all of Shep Fairey’s new work, both in DUMBO, Brooklyn, NY and at Jonathan Levine Gallery in Chelsea and do some sneaker recon. The trip was rad. We’ve got tons of wicked good pics. Here’s a few from the DUMBO Installation/party. I can’t say enough good things about Shepard’s work. His content is brilliant, as far as graphic design goes - he’s one of the best and his execution is fucking stellar. When you take all that into consideration with Mr. Fairey’s roots and committment to getting his art up in the street… you just can’t beat a Shepard Fairey art show/party. We, particularly I, were just totally blown away. So, here goes… Oh, JR actually forgot the camera for the DUMBO show so I was shootin pics on the infamous Manuel Bello’s camera. Turns out Manny kept all the really hot pics for himself and the story he was doin’ on Shep’s new work for fecalface.com. Whatever Manny, no hard feelings, but come on bro…
