IN CAHOOTS: GOODIE BAG!

John Fellows and Kris Fry just had a collaborative show at the Plastic Chapel. We didn’t make it down for the show, but Matt Doubek is here and he brought down a little goodie bag from the show (1 print, 1 sticker, 1 button and a little zine). The work from the zine looks awesome, and we’re super bummed we didn’t make it down. If any of you other contributors made it and happened to take photos, please put them up!

Birds, Beards, & Brews - by John Fellows

Who doesn’t like art, live music, and a couple beers here and there? On First Friday, April 4th, the Icelantic Gallery is holding an art opening (party, dare I say) with live music by FullStop and new work by John Fellows. In addition to a bunch of new original artwork, there will also be some screen prints and a limited edition Icelantic t-shirt sold that night as well as the amazing work of Travis Parr spread throughout the space like always.

If you haven’t heard of The Icelantic Gallery or been to their gallery yet at 948 W. 8th Ave in Denver (8th & Kalamath), April 4th is going to be a great time to do so. Icelantic is an amazing ski company right here in our own back yard thats about to explode! The graphics on their skis are unmatched in the ski industry. The Icelantic Gallery is commited to supporting local and action sports industry artists. Their gallery provides a space for these creative individuals to display work, perform, collaborate and promote the synergy of art and sport.

As for the music, FullStop developed out of a unanimous love of the melodious soul, funk, jazz, and groove music of the 1970’s, Full Stop’s uniquely stated jams and songs not only take you back to the heyday of one of the greatest eras of music, but put a fresh twist on the music’s rebirth brought upon by
such bands as the James Taylor Quartet, The Greyboy Allstars, Soulive and Galactic.

“NEW” JOHN FELLOWS LINO-CARVED PRINT!!!

Analog artwork rules and John Fellows owns the analog department. John has just completed his first print in what’s to become a monthly series. Print numero uno is entitled, “Here Come’s Trouble.” It’s roughly 5″x 8″ and is printed on 7.5″x11.25″ paper. All of John’s new prints we’ll be produced in editions of 25 and cost precisely $25/print. Mr. Fellows is running black ink on tan paper and is adding the white highlights by hand. Awesome! Each series will be produced from an original John Fellows linoleum carving, and as you can tell, homeboy can carve.

JOHN FELLOWS - PAPER CUT N0. 3

Mr. Fellows stopped by yesterday to check up on the sales from his recent art opening, “SMOKE EM IF YOU GOT EM.” It was cool to see him, unfortunately we were all pretty slammed and didn’t get much time to chill. John, however, left us with some copies of his latest edition of PAPER CUT NO.3. We all sat dowm and took a gander this morn., and have to say it’s totally frikin’ awesome. There’s not many copies in circulation at the moment, but if you can get your hands on a copy - do it.

“SMOKE EM IF YOU GOT EM” RE-CAP

Friday’s night opening of John Fellows new body of work entitled “Smoke Em If You Got Em” went off as a hit, with a great turnout and Mr. Fellows selling a good chunk of his work. If you weren’t able to make it to the show (we’re not going to rub it in or anything) you missed out on some killer linolium prints, printed on old envelopes from around the world as well as on a variety of cigar boxes. Lucky for you though, the show will be up for the rest of the month so you can come check out the work. Fellows has some serious carving skill, in which he made intricate individual carvings for each piece, all of which contain their own theme. Thanks to everyone who came out and if not, definitely stop by and check it out!
