Ah, the power of toys… and the artists and collectors who love them. Gotta hand it to Paul Budnitz. kidrobot is one hell of a cultural phenomenon. While the toy scene has quieted down a bit in the US, it’s on fire in the UK. Check out the recent kidrobot release of the Ye Olde English Dunnys at SELFRIDGES &CO. Wonder Room concept store across the pond.
c13 recently teamed up with AMG to create a series of custom Munny’s for some industry heavies. The Munny’s all shipped as holiday gifts and are serving to copromote AMG’s Munny Contest. You can see our process over at our flickr account.
I was first turned on to the artwork of Ryan Bubnis a couple years ago at our friend Dave Smith’s, inaugural group show at Limited Addiction Gallery. Lucian picked a piece by Ryan, and we’ve since followed his trajectory in the contemporary art world. He’s a great artist and seems to have won the respect of some key peeps, as evidenced by his recent release for kidrobot, Heroes and Heartbreakers. Awesome to see. Grab ‘em while you still can.
Just saw TADO’s new mini series with KidRobot – Cannible Funfair. We’ve seen tons of TADO’s work on all sorts of toys, but this time they got to design the figures. There will be 17 characters in total. Tulip will also be dropping in 7in of vinyl glory! Way to go M+K!
