JOYENGINE: cause sharing is cool

Celeste Prevost, aka designisfine, recently asked me to design a tattoo for her. I just finished up the first mock up last night. Lets see what she thinks!

Our “man,” Anthony Hull dropped some new Alife’s off at the shop for a little customization. SBD got all over a pair of Chaser’s with his signature “BABY-EATER” pattern and some custom “Eat Babies” type set in his very own typeface, SBD001. We’re assuming Ant’s gonna be stoked to “crush the streets” in these sukkkkahs! Nasty.

The crew behind cypher13, Alex Henry, Lucian “small-but-dangerous” Foehr, and teebee, just wrapped up their new microsites.  They’re fun and they were fun to make.  Well for the most part, Mr. Henry handled all the animation and well… got a little nippy near the end, but whatever.  More from cypher13 coming soon - the new c13 site should drop by mid April.  Oh yeahhhh!!!

Lucian Foehr, aka “small-but-dangerous“, perhaps better known for his signature “BabyEaters” has elaborated upon a rather brilliant idea initially spawned by his close friend Kristian Kluver. For Lucian’s last birthday Kluver designed him a one off, super custom, BabyEater belt buckle. With the help of Kristian and Joseph Shaeffer, Lucian has gone into production on a limited run of 99 BabyEater buckles. Both the bodies and faces were recently waterjet cut from black and white Delrin respectively. Kluver has been busy prototyping fastener and closure specifics and based on what we saw today things should really start movin’. Stay tuned for more… we can’t wait to see what SBD comes up with for a packaging solution!

Lucian stepped up and created a piece for our friends over at Texture Media for their first annual art show. The art show is doubling as a CAN DRIVE and CHARITY EVENT. All the art submitted will be offered for sale through a silent auction, with 100% of the proceeds going to a charitable cause. It’s awesome to see Texture throwing an event like this. Fuckin’ cool.

NOTE: The walls of our shop/gallery are now blank. It was unfortunately time to remove Kluver’s wicked vinyl installation and buff the murals by the likes of Tazer, Eak, and Shitty, repair the drywall, throw up some primer and repaint in preparation for our latest top-secret installation. Stay posted for more on that sucker…

SBD has become a bit of a tailor (well sort of). He’s been customizing his BabyEaters and bringing them to life as all sorts of plush goodies. The lastest addition to the family is the BabyEater Key Fob. They’re super soft and extra lovey, and we just can’t say enough good things about ‘em. Our friends over at Texture Media are throwing a charity art event. Our office was lucky enough to be invited to participate. Unfortunately most of the crew is pretty burned out from Shoe Shine, Nocturnal Mockery and not to mention our day to day work. SBD is manning up and taking one for the team, so we’ll have some representation at the show. Come check it out on Friday the 9th, 5:00 - 9:00 pm, there will be a DJ, booze and of course art.

SBD’s been hard at work producing (hand sewing) his trademarked Baby Eaters, and their teeny-tiny brethren, the Baby BabyEater. Look for Baby BabyEaters to be landing in a purse near you! A little side project that’s just getting off the ground, Fight The Brand is about bringing awareness to brands that have become synonymous with a product. We’re applauding their marketing, they’ve reached the pinnacle of brand awareness, but now it’s time to crush them with some good old free thinking. So pass me a tissue, put on some lip balm and lets fight these guys/girls

Today was mine, Berto’s and Sean’s birthdays. We just kicked it at work ’til the wee hours, workin’ while DJ Symmetry rocked the house. It’s been one to remember, from NY to Boulder for a privately DJ’d gig at the sickest spot in town. We’re off now to hold a huge video game tournament at TB’s.

Thanks Scot for the sick print, to Alex for the slice, Jeorge for playing the party, Swimmy for keeping it real, TB for letting me sleep on his couchyu and everyone that showed up. Oh and sorry Sean, we would have invited you but you’re running the family program, so we didn’t think it would fly - but you sure are going to miss an ass beating in Tekken.
