MARS-1 OBSERVER DELTA INC. & SEEN

By: JoyEngine

Our designer toy heroes over at strangeco just announced the release and subsequent pre-order of some serioulsy nasty-ass new toys by none other than San Fran’s Mario Martinez, aka MARS-1. The “OBSERVER” is back!!! The special edition Observer series features special color schemes designed by street art legends DELTA INC and SEEN.

DELTA INC edition: Hailing from Amsterdam, Boris Tellegen, a.k.a. DELTA INC, is one of the best known and well-respected pioneers of European street writing. His distinctive style incorporates geometry, architcture and three dimensions. Widely influential, Delta’s work is a particular favorite of Observer creator Mars-1.

SEEN edition: By far one of the most widely recognized and influential american street artists, SEEN is often referred to as the godfather of graffiti art. Active since early 1970s, SEEN has painted on New York City subway trains, is a master tattoo artist, an accomplished painter and toy designer. Limited to 400 pieces.

We hope to have both editions in the shop by mid-November. RAD!!!mars1deltaseen.jpg

MAYA HAS SOMETHING TO SHARE

By: JoyEngine

Our very own Maya was given a super sick Mars1 print from her very kind mother. To most of us in the shop, it’s a pretty big deal to get a sick piece of art for a gift so we wanted to share our enthusiasm with all of you. For those of you who don’t know, Mars1 is one of the most recognized pop-surrealist artists in the scene today. Actually, to be honest I think he kind of stands out from the scene and accomplishes something entirely different from that of some of other artists today. He sculpts and paints with crazy detail and has come up with some of the most insane characters and environment pieces.

MARIO MARTINEZ - MARS 1

By: JoyEngine

Manuel Bello, our homey out in NYC, crowndozen.com + fecalface.com alumni and close personal friend of local hero Josh Holland (showing at JoyEngine April 13th) recently spent some time with Mario Marinez aka MARS 1 at his SF studio kickin’ it, chattin’, and sneakin’ some peeks at Mario’s latest works for his show tonight at Jonahtan Levine Gallery entitled, “Aerodynamics for Psychonauts”.

Here’s what Manuel had to say about hangin’ out with one our favorite artists in the whole wide world, “Last month while out in San Francisco I stopped in on Mars-1 to see the madness he was brewing for his upcoming show at Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York City. I expected to show up and talk about art and all that jazz but some how found myself watching the latest clips of recent UFO sighting on cracktube and exchanging sighting stories with him and his father. Luckily I was able to snap a few pictures of his recent works in progress to show to all you adoring fans. And for all you Colorado heads Mars-1, the now San Francisco native was actually born in Boulder. So show some love as I take you on a little tour.”

Manuel’s pics are below. We hope you enjoy ‘em as much as we do. Yo, peep these pics and then jump back to the pics at Jonahtan Levine Gallery to see Mario’s finished pieces. Fuckin’ nasty! Damn brilliant work. Congrat to Mario on putting together such a stellar show. We’re stoked to just house these pics on our server. Wordup.
