Die Post Ist Da 2: The Return, happening in Berlin at Intoxicated Demons on March 13th is startin’ to look damn good. Our pal Morten Andersen from Denmark just shot us over a pic of where he’s takin’ his work these days, and damn – it’s hard to not be a little bit jealous of Morten’s brilliant aesthetics. With a line up in lncluding, Mr. Andersen, Mike HYP, ARO, and Angry Woebots, I’ve got a feeling Intoxicated Demons is gonna pop some eyeballs and blow some minds next month. One day I hope to be in a position to jet off to places like Berlin for shows like this one.

Mr. HYP is preparing for Die Post Ist Da 2: The Return in Berlin. Mike will be showing alongside some of our across the pond favorites including Morten Andersen, ARO, and Angry Woebots at Intoxicated Demons on March 13th. For this latest exhibition HYP has produced 25 laser cut screen-prints, metallic gold and blue on 140lb. French Black Muscletone. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the crew comes up with. We need more work like this in the states… We’ll see what we can do about that.

Our pals Mike HYP, and Morten Andersen, and their pals, The Keld, and ARO will be showing new works at Barcelona, Spain’s Atticus Gallery. The collective body of work and subsequent show is being referred to as “Royal Flush” and seems pretty damn aptly named for this crew. If you’re in Barcelona on October 3rd, Atticus Gallery will be the place to be.

Mr. HYP just returned from his first international show, Die Post Ist Da, at Intoxicated Demons gallery in Berlin. Mike showed his latest works alongside ARO and Morten Andersen. Here’s some of Mike’s pics and thoughts on his recent adventure,
“Just returned from Berlin. . . the show was amazing. That town goes off! Between hanging the show, the opening, seeing The Beatnuts play, some mid-day shopping / sneaker freaking in Mitte and Kreuzberg, then seeing Rubies / Jaime Lidell at Admiralspalaast AND James Lavelle’s DJ set at the LOWDOWN / Fenchurch party at Cookies the same night. . . . it was a busy, exhausting and amazing 3.5 days. Maybe I’ll recover this week. . .
I think I could live for a year in one of Morten’s paintings and never see the same thing twice, kid has some serious talent. The layers he builds up are so intense that they actually reveal intricacies in different light conditions. Nuts. Seeing ARO’s stuff up close and personal makes me rethink the way I use Illustrator. That kid twists vectors like no one I’ve ever met. To top off the fact they are massively talented, both guys are incredibly humble and have mastered the craft of late night madness. And hearing a Danish dude drop Quasimoto lyrics in Germany made me realize that we are in a truly global culture with zero lag time. Also, I’ve gotta give props to Marco who runs Intoxicated Demons Gallery, he hooked us up hardcore and is a visionary for filling the contemporary gallery void in Berlin. The gallery is a killer space, filled with fine beats, slate-walls and cold beers.
All in all a great, albeit short trip. I can’t wait to get back. . .” -HYP

Our pal Morten Andersen over in Denmark just wrapped up a show (Die Post Ist Da!) with Aro and our boy HYP over in Berlin. The show looked amazing from the pics we’ve seen. Here’s a sample of some of Morten’s most recent paintings from the gallery he shows at in Paris. I’ve been paying close attention to Morten’s work for close to two years now, and damn… Mr. Andersen has raised the bar and his work more than stands on its own. No arguing that.

Mr. HYP has been crankin’ – as always. Gotta admit, the man is steppin’ up his game. Mike is involved in a group show in April back home in his favored region, the Pacific Northwest, Seattle to be specific (still foggy on all the details). Mike shot us some electronic mail this morn. to give us a look-see. There’s some stellar conceptual thinking behind HYP’s latest works. Here’s what Mike had to say about this new deck, “The theme for me was to create something that evoked my heritage as a denizen of the great Pacific Northwest, and I landed on the concept of combining the city’s nickname (Emerald City) and a broadstroke reference to Mt. Hozomeen from ‘Dharma Bums’ where Kerouac tried to get his life back.” Right on bro. HYP’s gonna be goin’ international this summer, showing with Morten Andersen in Berlin if I’m correct… more on those two soon. Yeahhhh boyz!!!

Morten Andersen (m-andersen.com) lives in Aalborg City, Denmark, but he plans on coming to Boulder in July to kick it with the JoyEngine crew and if all the stars align, he’ll be having a show here as well. Morten’s most happy when drawing and painting in his rooftop studio, and the work he kicks out up there is nothing short of stellar. Morten’s a world traveler with a brilliant eye for composition. We’ve been rappin’ with Morten a whole bunch lately about collaborating and some art projects and getting him over here for a show. It looks like it’s gonna work out.
Morten just wrapped up a solo show so, we’ve compiled a bit of both his latest work and some work of old. Have a look and soak up some seriously progressive Danish inspiration… cuz sharing is cool!
