Tran and I are both super excited to have one of our favorite artists and good friend Scot Lefavor show at The Fabric Lab on Saturday December 13th. East Colfax is going to be running shit on Second Saturday, alongside Lefavor, Anthony Cozzi will be opening his first solo show Snow & Light at The Shoppe, and the second opening of the Square Footage show will be dropping a few doors down at Plastic Chapel. Hopefully we’ll see you there… we need a secret hand sign or something… second though maybe not… a hand sign on could lead to a variety of mostly illegal activites around the way, keep your digits occupied or in your pockets.
cypher13 is wrapping up a series of 9 custom laser-etched skate decks for an upcoming exhibition in Denver. The exhibition, entitled Bordo Bello is a component of the AIGA’s mentorship program run by Matt Bargell and will be held on December 12th (boards go on display Dec. 5th) at the Access Gallery. Italian for “Beautiful Board,” Bordo Bello is a mentorship-based design initiative where students and graphic design professionals team up to design the underside surface of a skateboard deck to create a unique visual statement. This project marks our second of many to come collabs with our bro Kurt Barbee of 5280 lasers and our first formal partnership with the AIGA. Pics of all 9 completed decks coming soon… And, oh other featured designer/artists include David Carson of David Carson Design and Mike Strassburger of Modern Dog.
SpY is an urban artist from Madrid, Spain. His roots lie in traditional graffiti dating back to the early eighties. He has since evolved his work to incorporate urban elements. SpY reappropriates these elements and reintegrates them back into their native environment. His work is super hot and worth a look.
Hey All, it’s been a minute since I last posted, but today I thought I would share one of my favorite contemporaries of all time with you . UK based James Roper just finished a new body of work for a show titled “Into The Fold”, showing at ForsterGallery in London. Kind of like Anime Anatomy in a Blender, I love the combination of dynamic tension and the vibrant “technicolour” palette. Oh, I should also mention he has some fresh gear available at Tank Theory.
Don’t know too much about this Brooklyn based artist, and I am unable to find more than a flicker account, but his work is AMAZING. Sorry for the huge post, these just needed to be seen full size! He’s got a new (timely) series of work depicting the great 21st century depression we find ourselves in the midst of…check it!
We’ve (cypher13) been working very closely with the folks over at David B. Smith Gallery to brand their new gallery. Previsouly Limited Addiction Gallery, they’ve renamed, rebranded and are coming out swinging. We designed the original identity back in ‘07 and tied in a whole system for the gallery launch. The David B. Smith Galley site launched yesterday - just in time for their participation at Aqua Wynwood in Miami. The site will be getting added functionality soon. We’re very pleased with the everything. Watch for their ads in Juxtapoz, 5280 and ACA and be sure to stop by for their first group show January 24th.
Tony Cozzi’s (AKA Snowblinded) debut art show is Dec. 13th from 7pm to 11pm at The Shoppe, 3103 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, Colorado. Tony will be showing a couple of new and unreleased giclée prints and some rarities.
For all of you sorry people left outside of the ffffound network, you should take a peak at Imgspark or here. No dates have been announced for its release but there has been quite a bit of information about its functionality and how it stands up against ffffound. Cruise by the website for more info and to sign up for notification of its launch.

“The complete soundtrack to Super Mario World, covered by one man using dozens of instruments. Roughly in game order, faithful to the originals, with some bizarre artistic license thrown around. A private hobby made public.”
