OneRiot – Real Time Link Search

By: Todd Berger

The world wide web is the 21st century’s wild west.  No matter what you’re level of web-based participation, be it blogging, tweeting, digging, commenting, facebooking… hmmm, or just reading blogs or tweets, diggs, comments, or your “wall” you’re aware of the crazy rate and wild manner in which the web is growing.  But, while the “web” is going gangbusters, it’s the “social-web” really driving all this growth.  And, being the web geeks that my partners and I are (I began my professional foray in .com-land back in ‘98) we’ve had the good fortune to contribute to certain leading-edge technologies and work alongside some of the industries leading minds.  As of late that leading-edge technology and those leading minds have been over at OneRiot, a San Francisco startup hubbing development out of our beautiful Boulder, CO backyard.

So, while you may be thinking, or maybe, I’m just thinking you may be thinking… this blog is supposed to be about the Colorado creative community, and art, and design, “So…, what’s this jackass doing ranting about OneRiot, a realtime social search engine?” I’m doing just that – ranting about a realtime social search engine, with some really forward-thinking technology, a clean, simple and intuitive design (that we’ve spent a great deal of time contributing to) and what I believe to be positive, new and unique ramifications pertainting to how information is found, shared, and organized on the the social web.  And, with “finding” and “sharing” being the founding premises of joyengine.com, well, do the math.

So, whether you jive with my thinking or not, take OneRiot’s latest release for a test drive and see what it turns up.  Maybe it’s for you, maybe it’s not, but either way, the social web is here for a bit and it’s shaping our world, so get used to it – I’ve had to.

And, If you’re interested you can go here or here to see what some of the big tech dawgs are saying about OneRiot.

OneRiot’s Twitter Search goes live

By: Todd Berger

We’ve been deep in Twitter land for a good bit now with our collabo launch of TWEEEET w/Quickleft.  But, the most interesting piece of 140 characters of status update fodder we’ve had the opportunity to work on is most definitely OneRiot’s brand new Twitter Search.  With the addition of their all new Twitter search, OneRiot is filtering some of the most significant social signals on the web and truly providing “real-time” search.  The team at OneRiot is not just scouring tweets and looking for keywords – they’re digging links – and  deep.  See for yourself. The future of the world wide web is the present.

OneRiot in BETA & with Video

By: Todd Berger

OneRiot, the Boulder, CO/San Francisco, CA,  social search engine that finds the pulse of the Web (the news, websites and videos that people are talking about right now) – just made some new moves.  It’s not your Mom’s Google. Thanks to the constant help of its 2 million strong user community, OneRiot knows exactly where to send users for the freshest content to read or watch online.

With that being said, we just wrapped their new UI design to best integrate video search and provide results in a more fun and aesthetically pleasing fashion, and people are digging it.  See what the New York Times had to say this morning.

OneRiot ADDS Facebook CONNECT

By: Todd Berger

We’ve been quite involved with OneRiot on a number of fronts and it’s been great to lend a hand in designing and developing some super current and really socially relevant web-based technology.  For those of you not in the know, OneRiot is the social search engine that finds the pulse of the web, and on last Friday the site received a nice facelift, including the integration of Facebook Connect.  Users search with OneRiot to find news, videos, and products that people are talking about RIGHT NOW in relation to any topic. With the addition of Facebook Connect, OneRiot users can now share that experience with their Facebook friends, starting conversations on Facebook about the hottest gossip, music, fashion, and other stories that they found on OneRiot.

Take OneRiot for a testdrive, we guarantee you’ll be impressed with the results.  Open up OneRiot and Google side by side, and do your own comparison of what you find.  OneRiot really brings the heat.  With the addition of Facebook Connect OneRiot has really stepped up their game socially, and unless you’ve been under a rock, well, that’s what the web is all about these days.

OneRiot – SEARCH FOR THE PULSE

By: Todd Berger

We’ve been working quite closely with OneRiot, the social search service provider formerly know as me.dium.  From identity to UX design to collateral to mark-up we’ve had our gritty little fingers in the mix.  It’s been a blast contributing to the design, development, and functionality of a service as forward-thinking and evolutionary as OneRiot.  We’re proud to announce, albeit a day late, that OneRiot is alive, in Alpha and pulsing with content.

So, here’s the deal – when you search with OneRiot, you’re tracking the pulse of the Web. OneRiot delivers this “pulse” by keeping a running record of the contents of the Internet. However, unlike other search engines, OneRiot prioritizes this information based on its current popularity within their own user-based community. This makes OneRiot’s search results relevant, fresh, friendly, and pulsing with the real-time energy of the web.  OneRiot finds search results based on pages users are currently visiting and then ranks those pages via their indicator system to show you just how fresh the content actually is.  The pulse of this content is checked and results are designated as Emerging, Surging, or just plain Raging!

With a OneRiot community of more than 2 million active users, happy to share, and contributing to the pulse you can be sure their results will bring you hot, new content.  You can join the OneRiot community by downloading the PulseChecker, or just take a cruise and experience the ever-changing face of search for yourself.  If you’re into new and fresh skip your Mom’s Google and hop on over to OneRiot.

And yo, there’s all sort of additional features and functionality still in development so expect a lot more from OneRiot in the coming weeks.  Seriously, check it – shit’s rad.
