OSCAR WOODRUFF DRAWS… A LOT.

By: Todd Berger

Our friend Oscar Woodruff draws a lot. And he’s really good at it. A recent Woodruff encounter with all around rad arty dude, Alex Hanel (who happens to also be plotting world domination… alongside Lifter Baron, of course, as well as some other peops we like to hang with…), resulted in Alex recommending that Oscar look into obtaining a Moleskine Pocket Japanese Notebook. The Moleskine Pocket Japanese book offers a unique accordion style design influenced by the horizontal scrolls and folding screens of traditional Japanese art. Hanel figured it’d be perfect for Oscar’s wild, narrative illustration style, often spanning multiple pages of paper, or bar coasters, or napkins, or pretty much anything you can draw on. Woodruff went out and got one, and he’s kinda been crushing it. See for yourself… Oh, and if all goes to plan there may be a Woodruff show full of these notebooks in the very near future. Our mouse-soft fingers are crossed.

OSCAR WOODRUFF FOR JE

By: Todd Berger

In a wicked cool gesture and show of love Oscar Woodruff stepped out of his safe zone, went digital with the Wacom tablet and created a JoyEngine inspired illustration for us. Hopefully we’ve helped, in our own little way to get Oscar’s work out there. We believe in both Oscar and his work, and it’s a pleasure to push his illustrations around. Thanks homey!  Nice work.

OSCAR’S STUDIO - THE MAKING OF A MERK

By: Todd Berger

Oscar’s been working for some time on his own interpretation of Kluver’s most dear and closely guarded character, MERK. While wrapping up the illustration in preparation to give it to Kluver, Oscar sent us a pic of his studio in full MERK battle mode. This pic provides some nice insight into the mind and workflow of one of our favorite illustrators. Kluver’s got an extra special plan to frame the piece involving the integration all the drafting/illustrating tools(pencil, pen, and brush) Oscar utilized during the creation process. Hopefully we’ll have a pic of the finished piece soon.

OSCAR WOODRUFF IS FROM OUTER SPACE.

By: JoyEngine

A picture is worth a 1000 words, right? Eff that. Not in the case of Kluver’s crazy illustrator buddy, Oscar Woodruff. Perhaps a million? Oscar is quite possibly the nastiest illustrator ever, yep ever. He draws cuz he likes to. And, he draws a lot. The character above is part of a world created by and perhaps only intimately known by Woodruff… and maybe Kluver? Anyway, rumor has it that Oscar’s illustrations may be coming to life in some published format here soon. We certainly hope that happens.

JOHN FELLOWS X OSCAR WOODRUFF

By: JoyEngine

The environment that we’ve built now has us in the lovely position where art just comes to us. Our good friend John Fellows sent us a postcard from Spain, not just a nice gesture, the card is a print he did on the road. Awesome John, thanks so much. Secondly, another good friend, Ryan Vaslet, dropped off a pen and ink by his buddy Oscar Woodruff. We’ve yet to meet Oscar, but we sure like his work. The best part, it was done at a bar on the back of 6 coasters. Enjoy.
