SHOWICHI KANEDA…HUMAN’S OWN.

By: Brian Krezel

My words can’t really do it justice…. Showichi Kaneda. Super fresh perspective on things. These are like 2 feet long! Check the link (the gallery that represents him)for some of his paintings as well… This is what he has to say…

Showichi Kaneda: I made “Human’s Own” series which look like a formula car because the shape of a shark and a Formula car is similar and I think a car racer is the symbol of human. What I would like to tell you through this work is that we, human beings, have to go ahead, even though the way is ambiguous and sometime we are scared and anxious. Of course I want people to make their own story and enjoy their own imagination through my sculptures, too. I am very happy if my sculptures are racing in many people’s hearts. The speed is 300km/hour.

THE YUMMIES Group Show

By: Ray Young Chu

flyer_yummies_pirateinvite.jpg

We will be showing at The Pirate Gallery Invitational in Denver this Friday. The Yummies characters will probably not be present but I will, with a smile and some good stories.

We have a couple new paintings with some older work along with 15 other artists.

It’d be good to connect with you all.

CUPCAKE!!!

By: Lucian Foehr

Just finished up my piece for The Shoppe’s opening show. Like TEEBEE said, I’m submerged in cupcakes right now and it’s awesome! I’ll hopefully get started on my Tee & Cakes install soon and get some photos up. And for the record, it’s true, my Mother always eats her dessert first and I do my best to follow in her footsteps.

TEEBEELAND: A Super Silly Painting

By: Todd Berger

So, I couldn’t sleep last night. I think it was Swindle’s totally frikin’ awesome trifecta of articles on Barry “Twist” McGee (who intentionally does not have a website, nor watches television) Blu, and James Marshall BKA “Dalek.” If any of those arty characters/master-minds are of interest to you, I’d pick up the latest copy. It’s chock full of interesting reads, from topics like modern day women of the Sudan, to the lives of garden gnomes, and there’s a grip of info on some super hot up’n'coming musical talent. Rad. However, the wheels wouldn’t stop turning and then somehow a girl got in there… one that got away. It was late, I didn’t have many materials handy, but decided to make a bit of a narrative painting. While the style and content are quite childish and naive, so am I at times (most times) and it felt appropriate. I got on it at about 2am and wrapped it at 5am. The guache, acrylic, and oil background tint I whipped up didn’t really turn out as intended, the Krylon seemed to be taking forever to dry, I recently wrecked all my small brushes customizing some kicks (I can’t really paint too well, brushes or not) and cutting stencils with a standard size single-sided razor blade, but no Exacto, really sucks (Lefavor… you feel me?). But, whatever. Making art is fun.. and therapeutic… at least until you’re done.
