Our close friend Randall Scott turned 29 today. Happy Birthday buddy!!! His girlfriend, Kate asked the cypher13 crew to create some special art for Randall’s b-day. Being the trapped in the eighties kinda guy that he is, we came up with the idea for a series of paintings based on some of most definitive accessories of his favored era. SBD and I whipped up some illustrations and handed ‘em off to Alex to paint. We included the Casio C-80 (original calculator watch), Oakley Frogkins, and of course, the ever-present and oh, so timeless Van’s slip-ons. We hope he like ‘em!

Our friend, artist/designer Lisa Solberg recently moved herself out to LA via Chicago. She’s settled in Los Angeles and is painting up a storm, working on a new body of work. We’ve been watching Lisa’s paintings evolve from the sidelines and it’s great to see her totally unrestrained style progressing. We’re really feelin’ it over here. To get the lodown on Lisa…

“Last Minute” Lefavor did what he does best and rallied for his homey Pat Milbery and Forecast Snowboards in preparation for SIA. Scot designed Forecast’s board graphics for 2009. One week prior to SIA Pat asked him to create 10 super-sized paintings to adorn the Forecast booth based on the board art Scot had previously designed. Here’s a bit on the project from Scot, “Yo, here is that mockup. Should’nt be too difficult, I tried to keep it simple and loud. Although it’s alot of work in a short amount of time. I got 50in masking tape from Harrison for $150, that’ll help. 3 colors each panel. Mask, cut, spray, repeat. I’ll keep you posted on that shit.” - Rad, right? So, Scot handled the paintings, and we heard that SIA went really well for Forecast. We’ve yet to see photos of the finished pieces, but with Lefavor’s steady hand, attention to detail, and wicked-good masking skills… we’re sure they’re tight.

Amanda Marie has a website. Yep, it’s true. If you’d like to see what one of our favorite painters has been up to, you really oughtta stop by for a visit.
A bit on Amanda, “Drawing on the books that shaped her from an early age, Amanda Marie has always possessed a variety of gifts. One of those was drawing. To this end, she attended Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design as an illustrator. And while she began drawing realistic subject matter as a child, she has certainly paid attention to her development and now she stands lifetimes away from realism; and much further down a more complicated path.”
