Just a friendly reminder that Illiterate’s arty event, CMYK+RGB, is tonight from 9pm – 2am at Space Gallery in Denver. There’s a ton of stuff going on (lots more info below), and prints for under $50 so they might be moving fast.

From Illiterate’s website:

On Friday, August 21st 2009 Illiterate brings its mission of creative collaboration to Denver’s Space gallery with “RGB + CMYK”, an interactive arts event exploring the interactions between print and digital media. With print and digital installations, live screen printing, a conceptual fashion show and a print exhibition by some of Denver’s most prolificcontemporary artists and designers, “RGB + CMYK” places two forms of reproduction side by side asking the question on every newspaper publisher and online entrepreneur’s mind: are these formats complimentary or in competition?

Print Exhibit
Twenty +  artists are creating custom prints based on the theme CMYK+RGB. Artists are free to explore any print method of their choice including screen printing, digital giclee, linoleum cuts, lithography, letterpress — anything that can be represented on paper. All prints will be for sale and reasonably priced under $50.

DVLP Fall Fashion Release
Award winning streetwear brand, DVLP, will be unveiling its fall fashion series, including the new premier Cursive line of clothing, in a CMYK+RGB themed runway show.

Live Screen Printing
Local screen print shop Indy Ink will be in attendance with their six color screen printing apparatus printing CMYK + RGB related designs on T-Shirts and paper. Bring your own, and they’ll print it for free!

Print and Digital Installations
Denver artists Matt Scobey and Sterling Crispin are creating interactive installations incorporating the print and digital concepts of CMYK + RGB. We can’t say too much on these except that you will be involved.

Music Performances
DJ Cory Brown, DJ Synergy and Pictureplane will take on the audio version of the CMYK + RGB theme with DJ sets that include the warm analog purr of vinyl records alongside the crisp digital sampling and beat matching enabled by turning sound waves into 1’s and 0’s. Also stay tuned for a unique sound performance by Ryan Mcryhew of Denver’s audio warping wizards BDRMPPLL.

Food and Drink
Denver’s favorite bakers at the Shoppe will be providing custom cupcakes for all to enjoy as they contemplate the interaction of traditional and emerging media platforms.   Wash your sweet treat down with a comlimentary Izze or a brew.

FIRST FRIDAY MADNESS – DENVER

By: Lucian Foehr

This is the first of three recaps from last Friday. In this post you can check out the few pics we got from Molten at Space Gallery (the lighting was awful for photos, so we just have a few of Regan Rosburg’s pieces), a nice unexpected show that had something to do with Jiberish Clothing we’re not really sure, but there was some rad art and finally Art In The City with works from Matthew Doubek, Ray Young Chu and lots of others. Oh and a quick snapshot of a nasty throw up by JOLT. Yay art!

REGAN ROSBURG for MOLTEN

By: Todd Berger

Regan Rosberg is a good friend and a spectacular artist. Regan will be showing work in the upcoming Molten group show at Space Gallery on June 6th. Molten runs from June 6th to June 28th and features work by some of our regions top talents. You can get all the info on the show here. Below you’ll find one of Regan’s latest pieces. Her work for the Molten show is resin based and includes some seriously photorealistic painting. Ms. Rosberg is certainly on top of her game.  Visit her website to get the real deal.

JASON THIELKE – 2ND OPENING AT SPACE GALLERY

By: JoyEngine

Jason Thielke and Jeremy Wineberg are having their second opening at Space Gallery on Santa Fe this evening. Whether you made the first opening or not, you should stop in to check this show. It’s spectacular. Jason just finished up 8 new pieces and they’ll be up this evening as an addition to an alredy stellar lineup of work. Capitalize on this opporuntity to meet Mr. Thielke in the flesh and get a glimpse into his very special world of brilliantly concepted and executed artwork.

REMINDER: Space Gallery is one block South of Limited Addiction Gallery. You can see Jason and Jeremy’s work and then stroll on over to LAG and check out the opening there featuring the work of Caleb Neelon, Becky Suss, Justin B. Williams and Alex Lukas. Scaffolding is gonna be on the decks at Limited Addiction so it ougtta be pretty damn rad over there… keep your eyes out for Lifter Baron. He’ll be the really fly lookin’ dude with the camera drooling over all artwork.

THIELKE – THIELKE – THIELKE – KILLIN’ IT.

By: JoyEngine

Last night was Awesome. Jason Thielke and Jeremy Wineberg manhandled Space Gallery. And, that’s no small task. Space is just that, one seriously brilliant and at the same time, massive – space. Jaw-dropping. While we don’t really know Jeremy all that well, we were blown away by his artist prowess and according to Mr. Thielke he’s a great guy and makin’ major art moves. It’s too bad we had to hustle and didn’t get a chance to kick with Jeremy. We’ll be watchin’ his work closely from here on out.

Jason took a turn with his new work and in my opinion it was brilliantly executed. We all know Jason is a brilliant illustrator. That’s sort of a given at this point. While Jason’s illustrative skills continue to grow and evolve it’s his use of color that most blows me away. Thielke is a master of color. He just has a natural knack for it. While some of Jason’s more traditional pallete was evidient, his exploration into rich cyans, deep oranges, burnt reds and purples and lots of lime provided for a striking contrast to his familiar black line work and the natural, truly organic wood backdrop.

While Jason’s latest evolution blew us away it was his return to the “Young Dudes” series that tripped us all up. “Young Dudes” is a continuing series featuring young designers, artists, hipsters & entrepreneurs that happen to be male. About a month ago Thielke asked Lucian, myself, and Lefavor for some pics. We took a quick round of shots and sent them over… not really sure where he was headed. Turns out our good friend, continued source of inspiration, and master artisan glamourized the three of us in lifesize renditions. Can you say flattering… uncomfortable… awkward and totally awesome all at once. Well that’s what it felt like. Thanks man. That shit is rad.

We can’t say enough good things about Jason so we’re gonna wrap this one up. Check out his art, buy a piece, cuz if you don’t do it soon you’re gonna miss the Thielke boat. Homeboy is goin’ places. That’s for sure.
