BANKSY - THE VILLAGE PET STORE AND CHARCOAL GRILL

By: Mark Siebert

Banksy’s done it again. A tiny little pet store opened four days ago in NY where a rabbit puts on her makeup, McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets sip barbecue sauce, and a CCTV camera nurtures its young. Wow-pretty impressive. More at woostercollective.com

DISNEY’S DOWN WITH STREET ART

By: Mark Siebert

Wow-I’m glad to see that Disney is now down with street art. Somehow I don’t see how putting up pasters fits within the philosophical or theoretical framework of Disney, but whatever, it’s the cool thing to do (and everyone’s doing it).

Walls covered with Heel posters can now be found in LA, along with a huge Chihuahua silhouette painted on the side of a building. Apparently Disney started a viral marketing campaign a few days ago for their upcoming movie starring a Chihuahua. I guess the a viral marketing campaign paid off because I’m now blogging about it, but I can assure you that I will not be going to see the movie.

BABY EATERS SEEN IN MINNEAPOLIS

By: Lifter Baron

Witnesses say that this is the first time they have seen this seemingly sinister imagery on the calm streets of Minneapolis. Others say they have seen it before… One elderly women reportedly saw similar characters on the bus stop sign, a police car and on hipsters handbags. If you ask me, its no coincidence at all. I know the dastardly deeds of these artsy mercenaries and its no joke. First you see these “Baby Eaters” on the streets of your favorite neighborhoods, then on the clothing and accessories of your chums. Then the next thing you know it, its on your cereal boxes and in your underwear. If you ask me, its the beginning of an invasion. The mastermind behind the creation of these little creatures is of course Small But Dangerous, one of the 3 elite that run this very blog. But, don’t take it from me. Look around at the place you live, the place you call home and tell me what you see… Not even Superman himself could save us from these creative villains.

IS YOUR CHILD A TAGGER?

By: Brian Krezel

Just a small bit of info from the folks running the beautiful city of Santa Ana, CA…on the same page as the “Gang Homicide reward program” and the “Most Wanted” section as well.

“Tagging causes blight in our community resulting in a genuine threat to the quality of life, incalculable economic losses to businesses, and can lead to the general deterioration of the area in which you live or work. The eradication of graffiti is a huge drain on the City’s resources in both cost and manpower. In most cases, the difference between graffiti being art or a crime is PERMISSION!”
*The best part is this is a downloadable PDF so you can send to your friends who might have “Tagger” children too! Nice! Via Notcot…

EURO STEEZ

By: Josh Holland

Shannon and I recently traveled to Paris and London, and were blown away (as expected) by all things visual. I’d like to share some random tidbits from this truly inspirational trip with you all (everything from ads to classical sculpture). The pics start out with a French metro ad featuring illustrator extraordinaire, Jamie Hewlett, and ends with a massive photo mosaic outside the National Gallery in London. Enjoy!!!

SEEN ON THE STREETS: BOULDER

By: JoyEngine

On my way to the bank this morning I happened to notice someone looking down on me from atop a building ledge. He didn’t say anything, he just lay still with a concerning look. This floating head is the first of hopefully a lot more sightings like this. I’m sure there are some people who would love to disagree, but something I learned a long time ago is that art is everywhere, and should be. Even if it’s pasted on the side of a building it’s still art. For me, it works as a sort of reminder that there is more out there than consumerism or disgusting ignorant people. It’s a sort of breath of fresh air. So take a minute, breath and enjoy the art…
