Cypher13, Tee & Cakes, and Big Wood’s (Owner of Tee & Cakes) screenprinting outfit, Handlebar Press have teamed up to release their collab’d cupcake propaganda prints. 24 posters were orginally designed, of those 4 have been chosen to be reproduced as limited edition screenprints. There’s talk of a CMYK 4 pack, but the details haven’t been worked out yet. The first poster in the series is currently available at Tee & Cakes in both black on white and a super limited run of black on black. We’re not certain of the edition, but if Wood sticks to his guns it’ll be a small-run. Posters are a mere $15.00 and they’re goin’ quick, so make some moves!

Brian “Big Wood” Wood, the “man” portion of the mini empire he and Kim Boos are creating around the corner, dropped by the shop today. Between running their super dynamic and multi-layered businesses (literally), including, Tee and Cakes, Haute Cakes, Side B Apparel and now Handlebar Press (their screenprinting operation), Big Wood still makes time for his friends. Brian dipped in our shop today with a super rad print I’d seen him working on yesterday morning. I’d snuck below Tee and Cakes into her underbelly and found “Woody” (yeah RYC!!!) pullin’ screens. I pointed out how fresh I thought one of his “test” prints was… And, now it’s ours!!! Thanks Big Wood.

The construction occurring next door to Tee & Cakes has officially been taken over by our cupcakes! It’s too bad the landlady wouldn’t let us hit the whole spot. She was kind enough though to let Big Wood take over the sides. Thanks to Brian and Kim for givin’ us the opportunity to have some fun at their spot. We needed a break from real work. It’s amazing what a little graphic design, a trip to kinkos, and some wheatpaste can do to improve the neighborhood… and hopefully… hype some local business.

Our good pals and daily fuel source, Big Wood and Kim over at Tee & Cakes gave us the opportunity to run a little arty project out front. They’ve been cupcake crazy for a good bit now, so we figured we’d start there. We got excited and decided to drop some cupcake related propaganda. We whipped up a series of 24 posters, 28″x30″, pimped Kinkos and mixed up a grip of wheat paste. The paste is still wet and it got dark, so no real photos yet… but, here’s a glimpse of what we came up with. We like it. So do Brian and Kim, and all cupcake crazed boulderites that were out on this warm and sunny afternoon. Yea -ahhh!!!

Brian “Big” Wood of Tee & Cakes and side b apparel proposed the idea of a “BabyEater” installation in his and Kim’s bakery/boutique to SBD a few months ago. Lucian brainstormed for a good bit and came up with some ideas for the creation of a pattern to adorn one of the walls. He wanted it BabyEater-centric, but also aimed to keep it relevant to Brian and Kim’s concept. BabyEaters, he decided would be accompanied by tea and/or coffee and cakes, cupcakes to be specific. The pattern was certainly tricky given the space in which it was to live, but SBD nailed it and got after the installation. He wrapped it up late last night. We think its awesome. Check it out.
