SHEEPHEAD & NINJA NATE via Los Angeles

By: JoyEngine

Our pals Sheephead and Ninja Nate of The Yummies have been on work release out in Los Angeles.  They’ve been quite busy in typical Yummies fashion.  Ninja Nate shot us over some pics of he and Sheephead’s latest projects.  We can’t wait for those crazy cats to get back.  Colorado just isn’t the same when they’re not around.

Check out Sheephead’s latest custom Teen Wolf Munny and Ninja Nate’s most recent painting.  Nate just can’t get enough kite flying time in these days…

VAIL FILM FESTIVAL RECAP

By: Mark Siebert

Over the weekend I attended the 5th annual Vail Film Festival. The Cross Brothers (who run the fest) throw a top notch event. I saw some excellent movies and also heard an informative talk about the animation process at Pixar Studios from supervising animator Dylan Brown. Quite a few of the film’s actors, actresses, and directors were in attendance including Adrian Grenier from HBO’s Entourage. I ran into Ray Young Chu from The Yummies working on a live painting during Saturday night’s private party at the top of Vail Mountain.

Oh, and a lady in the audience was doing yoga in her seat while watching films on Sunday…I thought that sort of thing only happened in Boulder, CO?

A PUBLICATION BY THE YUMMIES

By: Alex Henry

OH SHIT! If you know the talented and revered artist and mastermind, Ray Young Chu, you’re aware a five minute conversation with him holds enough material for a novel. But, twist Ray’s mind in between you hands like a sponge, filter the creative juices through a colander, and you’ll receive an awe inspiring 75 page book that’ll keep you up for nights on end. This 2007 publication, featured below (from The Yummies), is a must have. Every color, every line, and every carefully chosen word makes turning the pages of this book an insane pleasure. The book is pure brilliance, from its layout and short written excerpts to the featured art photographed. This book is a hallmark of recent art and design, and a testament that money and technology fall short to the tools of a creative mind and a few dollars needed to make a book.

PIRATE GALLERY INVITATIONAL RECAP

By: Josh Holland

SBD and I took a trip to Denver last Friday to check out the Pirate Gallery artist invitational, and support our close ally Ray Young Chu of art superfriends The Yummies. This eclectic group show featured artists employing techniques ranging from metal sculpture to watercolor, and they put together a great mass of work. Our night culminated with late night drinks and some crayon collab action. Good times!

NINJA NATE - LASIK?

By: Todd Berger

Turns out Ninja Nate is gonna be goin’ under the knife. He needs immediate Lasik!!! We’ve never heard of anyone having to undergo an immediate Lasik procedure. Have you? Ninja Nate says, “My opthamologist can’t believe it either, he’s not sure why, but I have to have Lasik, like yesterday. Weird, right?” Crazy. The Ninja himself sent over one last close-up of his beautiful eyeballs, “just in case something goes wrong,” he said. Remember these gorgeous eyeballs… cuz you never may see them again.

SHEEPHEAD OF THE YUMMIES GOIN’ BIG!

By: Lucian Foehr

Our cute and furry pal, Sheephead of that crazy art krew, the Yummies is in the midst of one his most ambitious endeavors to date. He’s begun working on a 240″ by 80″ painting. Rumor has it that Ninja Nate is lending Sheephead a hand, but we’ve heard from an undiscloseable source that Sheephead is definitely handling all of the art direction. This oughtta be one helluva painting. We’re gonna do our best to stay updated on both Sheephead and Ninja Nate’s progress. Until more…
